Clean Energy Week 2012

Recently Dan Carpenter the Director of Dan the Sparky Man attended Clean Energy Week 2012in Sydney. What is Clean Energy Week?

Clean Energy Week is Australia’s largest event for the renewable energy and energy efficiency industries, incorporating ATRAA (Australia’s largest solar conference), a huge trade exhibition, a schools program and events for the general public.

Hosted by the Clean Energy Council, Australia’s peak industry body, the week delivered the latest on policy initiatives and technology developments, as well as the opportunity to make valuable new contacts and close critical business deals.

Not only did Dan get to rub shoulders with David Green Chief Executive of the Clean Energy Council, he was also amongst these attendees; Greg Combet, Minister for Climate Change and Energy Efficiency, Jillian Broadbent, the Chair of the Clean Energy Finance Corporation, and Rob Stokes, Parliamentary Secretary for Renewable Energy, in the Government of New South Wales.

David Green Chief Executive of the Clean Energy Council introductory speech really sums up what the week is about and the future aim of the Clean Energy Council –

“Indeed, it is a truism to say Australia is blessed with some of the best renewable energyresources in the world and a proud record of achievement on energy efficiency.

Solar, hydro, wind, geothermal, bioenergy, and wave and tidal – Australia has them inhuge abundance.

Australia is well placed to take advantage of the global economic shift towards a clean energy future which last year saw global clean energy investment on both the supply and demand sides rise to $260 billion – despite the state of the world’s economy.

However, we do have a unique responsibility to not only use these resources efficiently, but to also ensure they are part of a progressive transition of Australia’s energy economy and not just a short term boom for the few”.
